FCM’s branch in Algeria has completed the design-build contract of reinforced concrete structure of the Business Center in Cheraga - Algiers, awarded by SARL CARREFOUR for a value of around 750 million DA (5.5 million € ).
The project consists of a business center comprising two strands: commercial and hotel space. It is a building with 2 underground floors (parking) and 6 floors above ground, 3 assigned to a shopping center and 3 other assigned to an apart hotel.
In this construction contract, FCM was responsible for executing the earthmoving, the reinforced concrete structure and waterproofing of terraces and retaining wall. The great challenge of the work was the execution of the retaining walls from two sides using the "Top-Down" construction method.
This project was also an opportunity for FCM, already very active in the building sector on the Algerian market, to contribute to the training of those who represent the future of civil engineering in Algeria.
On February 8, 2018, about 30 students of the 3rd year of Civil Engineering from the École Nationale Polytechnique visited the site Centre d'Affaires in order to understand, on a more practical perspective, the methodologies and techniques used in the execution of reinforced concrete structures.
The FCM will continue in this project with a second contract that includes the masonry’s execution.
