The Ribeiradio Dam is part of the Ribeiradio-Ermida Hydroelectric Project, with two dams: Ribeiradio (upstream) and Ermida (downstream). The downstream dam is 4km downstream of the upstream dam. Has a storage capacity of 88.3 x 106 m³ and an installed capacity of 82.3MW.

The Ribeiradio Dam comprises a gravity dam with a maximum height of 82m above the lowest point of the foundation and with a length of 255m.

The Dam is divided into 15 blocks through 14 contraction joints of around 17.00m each, with several visit galleries, located at different levels.

At the center of the crest is the spillway, controlled by floodgates, with dissipation in the riverbed immediately downstream of the toam of dam.
